Care, Learning & Play

The nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS) throughout the nursery.  This learning stage continues until the end of Reception year in school.  The children are observed and assessed continuously during their time with us and all the information we have gathered regarding their development (their profile) will be passed on to the school or other setting that your child may move on to.

We keep parents up to date with all aspects of development regarding childrens progress at Parents Evenings which are held at the nursery every 4 months.  Each child has a 'key worker' who is the main person responsible for the observations and assessments and who will be available for parents to speak to at Parents Evenings.

Other ways in which the nursery keeps parents informed are:

  • Regular Newsletters
  • Questionnaires
  • Notice Boards
  • Daily feedback sheet which details feeds, sleeps etc
  • Information Letters
  • Picture Messaging
  • Daily contact with staff in room
  • Facebook site

Children have access to the outside play areas every day and during most weathers.  There are grassed and hard play areas and we have umbrellas, wellies and puddle suits for rainy days.

We have 2 rabbits, 2 chickens, a tortoise, and goldfish and the children learn to look after them all.

We take the older children  on outings throughout the year, which they really enjoy, to places like Knowsley Safari Park, Underwater Street, Chester Zoo, Tatton Park, Walton Gardens etc.  We also have a good relationship with Hatley Farm here in Frodsham.  The children are collected from the nursery on a farm trailor and tractor and taken to the farm where they learn about what is grown there and see the animals that are kept.  They also bring back eggs, potatoes or vegetables to our cook to use for their lunches or take home.

We welcome parents into Nursery for stay and play sessions, and we also have visitors into our setting for 'Rhythm Time' music sessions as well as 'Stretch n Grow' for fun exercise sessions.
